Feliz Cumpleanos!

This cake was made for a friend's husband. Since they are from Puerto Rico, I decided to give it a Spanish theme. The two 10-inch yellow round cakes are frosted with buttercream icing and all the decorations are made from fondant. I used the rope border on the bottom. The yellow, red and orange all looked very nice together.

Flat Bed Truck

This cake was designed by using two 6 inch square cakes and one 9x13 in cake. The front of the cake was made by stacking the two 6 inch cakes. I then cut the 9x13 inch cake down to size and used some of the remaining cake to create the cab of the truck. The entire cake is frosted with butter cream icing and all of the embelishments were made using fondant.

Soccer Cake

This cake was made for my daughter's soccer team party. It was an 11 x 15 inch yellow cake iced with butter cream icing. The sides were done in white and the top in green. I used a shell tip for a top and bottom border and tip #5 to pipe the lines on the field. I was able to find female soccer players and goals in a local cake decorating shop. I also added the ready made sugar candy soccer balls to all four sides for an extra touch. It was a hit with the team!

Lake Cake

This cake was made to represent Lake Norman in North Carolina. It was made with a 14inch round pan and 2 1/2 marble cake mixes. The butter cream icing was easy to put on as it had to appear "rough" for waves and sand. I did a shell border around the sand portion and waves around the water part. The trees, beach chairs, cooler and umbrella were all made two weeks in advance out of a gum paste and fondant blend. I used a gum paste glue mixture to adhere popsicle sticks to the backs of the trees. The boat, water skiier and ducks were all bought at a cake decorating store and added a lot of charm to the cake. This was a fun cake to put together and a big hit with the kids at the party!
