This cake was made to represent Lake Norman in North Carolina. It was made with a 14inch round pan and 2 1/2 marble cake mixes. The butter cream icing was easy to put on as it had to appear "rough" for waves and sand. I did a shell border around the sand portion and waves around the water part. The trees, beach chairs, cooler and umbrella were all made two weeks in advance out of a gum paste and fondant blend. I used a gum paste glue mixture to adhere popsicle sticks to the backs of the trees. The boat, water skiier and ducks were all bought at a cake decorating store and added a lot of charm to the cake. This was a fun cake to put together and a big hit with the kids at the party!
